Before the restoration, a set of scietific analysis was perfomed to get to know more about the painting and it's current conservation state. Those analysis gather information of the artwork by using different parts of the electromagnectic spectrum, documenting the interaction behavior in each one of them. The gathered information is complimentary and by the cross-over of the information obtained we are able to retrieve compositional and technical information.

This important step of the investigation helps to uncover hidden aspects of an object's history and assists the conservator-restorers work.

Another important aspect of what's being done here is that we prioritize the non-invasive portable methods. In addition of being able to perform investigation at any location without moving the studied object, this means we avoid having to take samples of materials, respecting one of the most important ethical values when dealing with Cultural Heritage, the minimum intervention.
